Saw our baby for the first time yesterday

We had our first ultrasound yesterday (12/11) to confirm due date and make sure everything looked okay. What a neat experience. By measuring the little peanut, they say I was 8 weeks, 1 day along, and my new due date is July 22, 2008! Our third wedding anniversary! I think that's pretty neat - although I hope baby choses a different day to make their appearance, so we can celebrate our anniversary separate from their birthday. Best part was when the ultrasound tech pointed out the little heartbeat, a little flickering light - then she turns on the sound and the whole room fills with the sound of baby's little heartbeat. I got all teary eyed - what an incredible moment to hear your baby's heartbeat for the first time - such a big sound for such a tiny little thing. What a big relief to see that everything looks just fine - and baby is growing just like he/she should. Rafael was relieved to see just 1 baby in there! haha. So I will be 10 weeks on Christmas Eve - we think it's a good time to start breaking the news to everyone :) Parents and siblings, we will probably tell Zack & Stacie on Christmas morning, and then I can finally start telling my friends and actually start publishing these posts!

I'm feeling pretty good still... haven't felt too much of the nausea. My first signs of pregnancy were having to go to the bathroom a lot. Who knew something so small can make you have to go so often?! I also noticed how much I could SMELL things all of a sudden - and my tastes have changed to. I made a big ham dinner the other night - honeybaked ham, Georgina's avacado dish, baked potatoes, steamed veggies and buttered rolls. Oh my goodess... it tasted like a little piece of heaven. Food has never tasted this good! We went out for italian last night and I had minestrone soup that tasted incredible! I wanted nachos the other night with some runny "queso" cheese (yes, honey, I know queso means cheese), but they gave me some melted cheddar. It just did not taste good to me at all (normally I'm like Mikey...I'll eat anything). I had to run out and buy some real nacho cheese the next day. Oh man did that hit the spot. Perhaps I am having some type of cravings? I've been all about the soup lately. Any kind of soup... sun-dried tomato, split pea, potato, minestrone. My co-worker and I are going to a mexican place for lunch just so I can have their vegetable soup. All these veggie soups must be good for the baby, eh? I have also found water and milk to taste sooo refereshing lately.

So I hope baby keeps growing strong and healthy! Even though I've been sooooo tired, I'm so incredibly happy to be pregnant. I'm so excited to be able to share the news with everyone. This keeping secret stuff is no fun.
