We're Having a BOY!

I'm finally getting a minute to update the blog! It has been a busy weekend and its nice to have a little time to sit down and type about our ultrasound. We went to our appointment on Valentines Day. We got right in and got to see our baby! I was amazed at how much baby has changed since 8 weeks. It went from having a head and a tail to looking like a real baby. Little facial features, arms, legs, feet, even the 4 chambers of the heart and two kidneys! Incredible what they can see on the ultrasounds. Baby has a strong heart beat and everything looks great.

So she asked us if we wanted to know the gender, and we said absolutely! But baby wasn't cooperating - was facing my stomach and covering their parts. Ultrasound tech had me to go the bathroom to see if that would move things around a bit. That didn't work, so she started pushing on my belly to get baby to turn. I started laughing and it was funny to see the whole screen start shaking. Finally baby turned around a bit. She said "I'm about 95% sure what it is". Rafael is looking at the screen and whispers "It's a girl!" She looks a bit more and says, "It's a BOY!" Baby turns a bit more and she says, "Oh yeah, that's DEFINATELY a boy". She got a couple good shots of his "boy parts".

I have a DVD with the video on it, I will try to figure out how to get to the still pictures so I can post some.

We celebrated with a nice dinner - Rafael surprised me with reservations at "The Ranch House" in Ojai. It was very nice - a bit fancier than we would usually do, but we figured it was a special occasion.

We're having a little boy! We are so excited... my dream was right! For those of you who haven't heard the story - about 2 weeks after my sister, Tammy, passed away (3 years ago), I had a dream. Our whole family was together in the same city, and it was hit by a hurricane. We heard that Tammy had died and I headed out to find her body. I came upon a building and saw Tammy standing behind a glass wall. I couldn't get to her, but I mouthed that that I loved her and I missed her. She smiled and waved at me. She was holding hands with a little boy - about 5 years old or so, who looked like he could be my son - he had Rafaels dark hair and complexion. He was adorable.

Thank you, Tammy, for looking after my boy until he could come down to us. I look forward to telling him all about his very special Auntie as he grows up. Perhaps he will remember you himself ;)

We have a name! Although we are keeping it a surprise until little boy makes his appearance. It's possible it could change - though we've loved this name since we were dating, so I think it might be the one. Jenny - no worries about being a stalker. I'm a blog stalker myself! Jessy - if little boy has as sweet a disposition as Trevor, I'll be one lucky Mommy!
